We are diverse. Our learning community benefits from a wide range in age and background. Classroom experiences are challenging and thought-provoking as a result of the cultural uniqueness and life experience of the students, many who are taking on the challenge of going back to school while balancing other life responsibilities.
We have an entrepreneurial spirit. Our programs and services are driven by the needs of our community and economy. In November 2008, the voters of Johnson County elected to invest in our future by supporting expansion of our academic programs in business, engineering, science and technology. In the past few years we expanded our campus, adding two new buildings including a student center. And, we now provide cultural programming from nationally known centers such as the Confucius Institute, Lied Center, Dole Institute and the Kansas City Symphony. The Edwards Campus is evolving to become a major campus center for community and economic development. We look forward over the next several years to establish an array of academic programs and services that will keep our economy and community strong.
Higher education should provide you with the resources and tools necessary to help you improve the quality of your life. The Edwards Campus, through KU's respected faculty and programs, can offer a secure step in that direction. I hope you visit our growing campus, virtually or personally, and learn why The University of Kansas Edwards Campus can be your campus of opportunity, and why we are Your Neighborhood KU!
